New Delhi: EK Villain has shown an unpredictable collection of Rs 77.20 cr at box office in its first week and is continuing to reign even after the two new releases namely Bobby Jasoos and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil have hit the road.
The Mohit Suri's directorial on the last day of its first week earned Rs 5.20 cr surpassing its total to Rs 75 cr mark which as per the screen count is brilliant in comparison to Salman Khan's Jai Ho (Rs 87.75 cr in a week).
“EkVillain Wknd 50.70 cr, Mon 8.10 cr, Tue 6.80 cr, Wed 6.40 cr, Thu 5.20 cr. Total: Rs 77.20 cr nett. 2nd HIGHEST Week 1 of 2014. SUPERB!”, tweets trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
Now due to the above mentioned two releases, the number of screen count of Sidharth-Shraddha-Riteish starrer is decreased to 1375 from 2539.
“Given its fab BO performance, #EkVillain has held as many as 1738 screens with almost 5400 shows per day, in its second week starting today”, confirmed Adarsh.
Vidya Balan's ‘Bobby Jasoos' and debutant Armaan Jain's ‘Lekar Hum….' have received a lukewarm response. The morning and the noon shows have witnessed a dry spell but evening shows are expected to have better footfalls.
This in turn a good news for Ek Villain, which has also defeated Akshay Kumar's Holiday (Rs 68.31 cr nett) and Saif's ‘Humshakals' (Rs 56.23 cr nett) one week domestic collection.
The musical revenge saga as per latest trend will hit the milestone by second week and join the elite club flicks namely Jai Ho, 2 States and Holiday. Let's see how it goes from here.
