Chennai,Jan 15:Yielding to the request of his exhibitors, popular actor Kamal Haasan today decided to release his movie Vishwaroopam on the DTH platform on February two, exactly a week after its release in theatres.
Extending apologies to those who have booked the movie on DTH platform, Haasan, the lead actor and director of the movie, said, "keeping the request of my exhibitors in mind, I have deferred the DTH release date.
"While the original DTH premiere was on a Thursday (January 10) and hence inconvenient for most, I am now releasing it on a Saturday at the end of the first week of release (January 25) which will be on February 2," he said in a statement.
The 58-year-old actor-filmmaker had postponed the film's release, scheduled for January 11, after his controversial decision to premiere it on DTH platform a day ahead met with stiff resistance from a section of theatre owners who decided to boycott it.
However, Haasan did not reveal the name of DTH operators who will telecast the movie. "I will announce the names of my DTH partners who will be involved in this endeavour soon."
"Hindi version will release on February one while the Tamil and Telugu versions will release on February 2.
"We are also contemplating three time slots which viewers can choose from for viewing," he said.
On those customers who have already booked on DTH platform, he said, it (the amount) would be refunded by the DTH companies or adjusted as part of the payment for the new slot if they wish.
