REMEMBER Dia Mirza hitting headlines about her ‘ marriage' with Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar? While staunchly denying her reported wedding, the actress had come up with a few “ uncalled for” remarks about Shoaib.
Now, Dia has offered apologies for making such comments about the pacer.
“ Confession: some comments on Shoaib Akhtar on my part were uncalled for. ( I) was reacting to the silliness of it. ( I) don't mean to make a personal comment,” writes Dia on her Twitter page.
“ Apologies! Sometimes, anger and emotion over ride diplomacy. But what the heck! :-) I'm only human :-)” Of course, Dia had slammed all the reports through. But she had also tweeted about her deserving a better man. “ No offense but don't I deserve a young, attractive unmarried man!?! Puhleez ( sic) if I have 2 be linked with someone at least make it someone worth it!” Last week, Dia had said: “ I'm in SHOCK! Woke up from a nap after a long meeting• been getting calls from media asking me if I have married sum Pakistani cricketer!” the actress had tweeted.
“ I don't even know Shoaib Akhtar! I have no clue where all this started from but it's completely baseless and not true,” she had added.
However, Dia herself hasn't made it clear as to what had she tweeted that she felt the need to apologise for.
Last week a Pak channel claimed that Shoaib will be getting married to the actress in May soon after the T20 World Cup gets over.
Also, it was reported that the Pakistani fast bowler will go to Mumbai before flying off to Switzerland for his nuptials with her at the exotic place. In fact, a journalist from a particular news organisation in the neighbouring country also claimed to have confirmatory quotes from her on this breaking news.
“ I've not spoken to Geo TV,” Dia tweeted last week. “ Their claims are totally false. I'm not marrying Shoaib Akhtar.
Do not know him.” In fact, a Pakistani channel reportedly went on to quote the actress on her wedding thus: “ My wedding with Shoaib Akhtar would be even better than Sania's: Dia Mirza”. Ever since Dia hit headlines about her ‘ marriage' with Shoaib, she has been constantly tweeting to refute her reported wedding news.
Earlier this week, she tweeted: “ I would like to place on record that the story that I'm marrying Shoaib is patently untrue, unfounded and wildly speculative.” She added that: “ I don't like this fictitious story gaining any more momentum and I do not desire such attention.” Of late, Indian female celebs have been making news due to their link- ups with Pakistani cricketers. While Sania Mirza married Shoaib Malik, Sushmita Sen has been linked to former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram.
