New Delhi: Today is the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi when the entire nation is welcoming Lord Ganesha. The elephant headed Lord, who is the son of the deities Shiv and Parvati, stays with his devotees for ten days after which they bid goodbye to Him.

Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birthday of the Lord and according to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva declared that his son Ganesh is superior to all Gods except Brahma, Vishnu, Parvati and Himself. Siddhivinayak, as Lord Ganesha is also called, is the first one to be worshipped during any auspicious festival.

Ganesh Chaturthi is most probably the favourite festival of the stars of Bollywood. The busy stars ensure they celebrate the festival with their loved ones. Though, some like actress Sonakshi Sinha had to miss the opportunity as they were shooting abroad, others like Shilpa Shetty returned from holiday in Maldives to not miss the opportunity to bring the Lord home.
