Mumbai, Nov 10: Brazilian model Moufid Aziz, who makes his acting debut in Bollywood with Imtiaz Ali's ‘Rockstar', says there are very few foreign male artists in the Hindi film industry and he is here to make his mark by initially focusing on supporting roles.
Starting his career with modelling in Brazil, Moufid travelled to several countries and four years ago due to an assignment, he landed in India following which Bollywood came calling with interesting roles.
“I do follow Bollywood and aware about big directors - Karan Johar, Imtiaz Ali, Farah Khan and others. But looking at Bollywood, there are only few male foreigners.. we see lot of foreign ladies in the Hindi film industry,” Moufid told PTI in an interview.
“I am looking at making my presence here. I think as a foreigner I would get to play supporting roles initially and I am open to doing it. I am waiting for ‘Rockstar' to come out. I am happy to be part of the film,” he said.
Moufid plays lead actress Nargis Fakhri's husband in the film.
“My television ads got me my first film role. The casting director of ‘Rockstar' saw me in an advertisement and called me for the audition. I play a business man who is very rich and is devoted to his business. I am a good guy in all ways…I am a family man. But I am always thinking about the future,” he said.
Ask him if he is taking lessons in Hindi, Moufid says, “I am learning Hindi. I can't say too many lines in one go. But I don't think Hindi is that difficult a language. It is just that I am not used to it.”
Directed by Ali, ‘Rockstar' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis releases tomorrow.
