New Delhi: The month of August didn't go well for Bollywood at the box office. While there were four films which hit the theatres last month, only two actually did some business – the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Brothers' and the Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Phantom'.
However, as the calendar changes its month to September, fans are looking forward to some eagerly awaited films this month.
Looking at the schedule, it's going to be a busy time at the theatres this September, which could turn out to be a good month for film makers.
This year, September is lined up with six major film releases. Here's the list:
Welcome Back
An action packed comedy film, Welcome Back is directed by Anees Bazmee. The film, which is a sequel to the 2007 film ‘Welcome', is expected to be a laughter riot just like its prequel.
‘Welcome Back' has many of the same cast members as ‘Welcome'. While both the films have Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Nana Patekar in similar roles, ‘Welcome Back' will feature John Abraham and Shruti Hassan instead of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif.
While the film is slated to hit the theatres on September 4, 2015, its music has already created a buzz, with the song "Tutti Bole Wedding Di" topping the charts.
Hero
One of the most anticipated films of the year, ‘Hero' marks the debut of Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.
Produced by Salman Khan, ‘Hero' is directed by Nikhil Advani and is the official remake of Subash Ghai's 1983 release ‘Hero' starring Jackie Shroff.
The film has grabbed a lot of attention ever since it was announced.
While Salman Khan Films is producing it, we will also see Salman himself singing the title track of the film.
With Sooraj's ferocious avatar and Athiya's bubbly looks, ‘Hero' is all set to take over B-town on September 11, 2015.
Katti Batti
Directed by Nikhil Advani, ‘Katti Batti' has created a buzz ever since it was announced, mainly because of its lead pair.
The film stars Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan in the lead who will be sharing the screen for the first time.
While Kangana will be seen playing the role of a free spirited Payal, Imran Khan plays the architect Madhav Kabra.
The story of ‘Katti Batti' revolves around Payal (Kangana Ranaut) and Maddy (Imran Khan) who fall in love with each other and end up having a live-in relationship.
The twist here is that while Maddy proposes marriage to Payal after discovering that the lady is pregnant, Payal refuses and asks him to take everything easy. Certainly with this plot, it seems ‘Katti Batti' is a love story exploring the extremes of a relationship.
Well, only time will reveal whether, after doing films like ‘Queen' and ‘Revolver Rani', Kangana will be able to do justice to her role opposite Imran who would be appearing on screen after a long break of a year. The film will hit the screens on September 18, 2015.
MSG 2: The Messenger
After the success of his first film, ‘MSG-The Messenger', the godman turned actor is back in action with yet another film – ‘MSG 2' which is the sequel to his first release.
The film created a buzz after the release of its trailer where Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan can be seen defying the rules of gravity, logic, and physics, doing unimaginable stunts.
Reportedly, in ‘MSG 2', the Dera Sacha Sauda chief will be seen dealing with tribal people and also helping the tribes to change their respective destinies.
Interestingly, just a few months ago, ‘MSG- The Messenger' was released and spurred a lot of controversy at the time. However, the film received unflattering reviews.
MSG 2 is slated to hit the theatres on September 18, 2015.
Calendar Girls
A Madhur Bhandarkar film, ‘Calendar Girls' marks the debut of Akanksha Puri, Ruhi Singh, Avani Modi, Satapura Pyne and Kyra Dutt and also features Rohit Roy and Suhel Seth.
After working on films like ‘Page 3', ‘Fashion' and ‘Heroine', Madhur Bhandarkar is back with yet another movie which takes on the dark side of the glamour world.
‘Calendar Girls' is said to be about the ups and downs in the lives of models which leave them tormented. The flick will see a lot of betrayal, scandals, fashion, skin-show, tragedy, seduction, success, failure, lust and love.
The film will hit the screens on September 25, 2015.
Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon
After rocking the small screen with his amazing comic timing, stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma is all set to make his debut on the big screen.
Kapil will be seen playing the lead role in Abbas-Mustan's ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon'.
While the film also stars stars Arbaaz Khan, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Elli Avram and Sai Lokur, we will see Kapil Sharma playing the lead opposite four heroines.
Kapil Sharma has also sung a few lines for the song "Bum bum" in the film and his fans are eagerly waiting for it to hit the screens.
‘Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon' is slated to release on September 25, 2015.
