Kangana Ranaut – Meena Kumari

After the success of her sequel to Tanu weds Manu, Kangana Ranaut will soon be heading for another major project. She will soon be joining the biopic bandwagon.

She will be seen playing the legendary Bollywood actress Meena Kumari in a biopic.

While the movie will be directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the movie will be an adaptation of late journalist, Vinod Mehta's book, Meena Kumari: The Classic Biography.

Meena Kumari, who is also known as yesteryear's ‘Tragedy Queen', passed away at the age of 39 because of alcohol addiction.

The shooting of the film is expected to begin by the end of this year.


Aishwarya Rai – Kiranjit Ahluwalia

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was earlier seen in a biopic based on the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia.

The movie was based on a Punjabi woman Kiranjit Ahluwalia, who was married to Deepak Ahluwalia, and went through domestic violence for ten years. Deepak also subjected her to spousal rape.

After ten years and having two children with him, out of fear, Kiranjit sets her husband on fire while he was sleeping, two hours after another scene of domestic violence.

The movie revolved around Ahluwalia's journey to freedom. It was released in 2006 and was directed by Jag Mundhra.


Priyanka Chopra - Mary Kom

Priyanka Chopra too has a biopic in her kitty. She played Mary Kom in the biopic made by director Omung Kumar. The film was made on the life of World Boxing Champion 'Mary Kom'.

Mary Kom is a five-times female World Boxing Champion and Olympic Bronze medalist. The movie focused on Mary's life right from her childhood to her victory in 2008 World Boxing Championships.

While the movie was a directorial debut of Omung Kumar, the film was produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film was released in September 2014 and Priyanka's performance in the movie was well-acclaimed.
