Shamshad Begum- The mesmerising voice of Shamshed Begun fell silent on April 23rd after a prolonged illness. Before Lata Mangeshkar became the queen of melody, it was Begum who crooned in flicks with her throaty voice. Her hits like “Mere piya gaye Rangoon” from “Patanga” and “Leke pehla pehla pyar” from “C.I.D.” are even recalled today.
