Mumbai, March 28 : Veteran actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar was assaulted by a group of drunk men when he tried to stop them from wasting water on Holi day. The actor says that he has filed a complaint.
The incident took place Wednesday during Holi celebrations in a housing society in Versova.
"They were wasting water and were drunk. This had been going on since 10 in the morning. When I tried to stop them, they started abusing me. Even girls were there. They were doing all this in the middle of the society," the actor told IANS.
Amrapurkar, who was seen in films like "Sadak", "Mohra", "Ishq" and "Hum Saath Saath Hain", also reported the matter to a TV channel.
When the TV crew came, "these people tried to take their cameras and other stuff", said the 57-year-old.
Amprapurkar has lodged a complaint with the Versova police station and said: "I have already filed a police case against them."
He wants to take up the matter with the secretary of his society and other societies to formulate a set of regulations.
"Yesterday (Wednesday) only it happened. Now I will sit with the secretary of my society and the other ones close by and make regulations. There should be some rules by which senior citizens should not be affected. We must do something about this," he said.
