New Delhi: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started demolishing the controversial ramp built outside film actor Shah Rukh Khan's home.
Shah Rukh had received a notice by BMC following a letter written by BJP MP Poonam Mahajan to municipal body. The notice gave a seven days period to the superstar to demolish the ramp built outside his home.
Shah Rukh built the ramp to park his vanity van outside his posh bungalow, ‘Mannat'.
The letter was written by the local BJP MP Poonam Mahajan on the complaints of locals facing the problem because of the encroachment.
For the past few years the ramp and the adjoining road have been the reason of dispute between the Bollywood actor and local residents. The locals allege that the ramp is a hurdle and it narrows down the road. Poonam Mahajan had requested BMC to demolish the ramp to free the road.
According to local residents, this is the first time any representative has paid heed to their request. According to them the ramp is built illegally without appropriate permission of the local body.

Mahajan wrote to Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte on January 29 and asked him to get the illegal cement ramp demolished. She, however, mentioned an illegal ramp constructed by a bungalow owner in Bandra and refrained from taking the names of Khan or Mannat.
