Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has again shown that he is the big boss of the small screen as well.

The final episode of the Big B-hosted Kaun Banega Crorepati on Thursday beat the show's launch episode, notching up an aMap rating of 5.5. KBC opened at 5 in October and on its final day, on Thursday, touched 5.5, against Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss' 2.7. The combination of Jai and Viru, of course, trumped everybody, reports Times of India.

Kaun Banega Crorepati continuously led the popularity chart among audiences especially the smaller centres across the country. A viewer from Lucknow said, "There is often a power failure at my place but we used to save the inverter so that we could get to watch Bachchan."

According to aMap ratings, KBC opened well and, even when it slipped, its ratings remained between 4 and 5. Bigg Boss, which opened at 4.3, remained between 3.7 and 4.9.

Although KBC viewer ship remained consistent, the show did see a dip on the day of the entry of Pamela Anderson in Bigg Boss on November 18. Bigg Boss which was lagging behind KBC suddenly found its viewership improving with the controversial wedding of Ali Merchant and Sara Khan with the TRP going up from 3.8 to 4.4. Pamela's entry in the Bigg Boss show saw the viewership go up by 30% but there was no deviation in the TRP of KBC. Both the shows were at par with 4.8 each. But on November 18, the TRP of the show went up to 4 as Bachchan show continued to remain at 4.8.

TV commentator Anil Wanvari said, "KBC is more of a family viewing show and we as a society are very aspirational and the format of the show suits us Indians. It's like earning a scholarship because of your knowledge. One cannot really compare Bigg Boss and KBC because they are two different genres and Bigg Boss, too, has its loyal viewers who will remain with it till the show ends in January."

Strangely KBC's viewership didn't cross 5 with film celebrities like Akshay Kumar but crossed that figure with television actors like Ragini Khanna and sports stars like Leander Paes and Sreeshanth.
