Mumbai, Sept 18: On Monday Amitabh Bachchan performed a high-octane action sequence with Sanjay Dutt who is more than 30 years his junior. Rana Daggubati who had injured his knees earlier during the week also participated, though he refrained from doing any action.
Amitabh Bachchan's shooting for Ram Gopal Varma's Department almost didn't happen. Rana Daggubati's knee injury during a stunt sequence earlier during the week put him out of action, reports Bollywood Hungama..
Says a source, “Since Mr. Bachchan's scenes were with Rana and Sanjay Dutt, Ramu had no option but to cancel the shooting. But there was no way Rana was going to let the opportunity to shoot with Mr Bachchan go. Rana requested Ramu to let the shooting happen. Instead of action sequences, Rana requested for the talkies portion to be shot with him, hoping he would be able to do the stunts later during the one week that the Big B shoots for the film.”
Rana whose knees are now on the way to repair says, “There was no way I was going to let go of my first chance to shoot with Bachchan Sir .Yeah we shot dialogues instead of the stunts. At the moment my knees are out of action.”
Rana is full of praise for Ramu. “He was super-supportive. He reshuffled shooting schedules according to my convenience. These little mishaps are bound to happen in an action film.”
The young actor is in considerable pain. “But to share screen space with Bachchan Saab and Mr. Sanjay Dutt was a dream come true. I completely forgot my pain.”
Coincidentally, Rana co-starred with junior Bachchan, Abhishek, in his first film Dum Maaro Dum. Now, with his father in Department, Rana steps into a role that was earmarked for Abhishek.
Rana Daggubati has been stationed in Mumbai for the last one month. “I haven't been home to Hyderabad to meet my family at all. Yeah, I miss home. I won't be able to return home for another two weeks when there's a break in the shooting.”
