Leh: P S Bharathi, who made her directorial debut with ‘Ru Ba Ru', a documentary based on ‘Rang De Basanti' impact, says her filmmaker-husband Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra thought she was the best person to direct it.

Bharathi, who has edited all of Mehra's films, said the director found it interesting that she would make a film on the making of ‘Rang De...' and its effect.

The 2006 movie had Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth Narayan, R Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor and Alice Patten in lead roles.

“When I told him, he found the idea interesting. He thought I was the best person to make the film and to show the audience how ‘Rang De...' was almost not made,” she told PTI in an interview here.

When asked what was her personal ‘Rang De...' moment, Bharathi said, “The scene towards the end in the film, where the guys know they will die and the song ‘Ru Ba Ru' is playing in the background was my emotional moment,” she said.  Bharathi said though she enjoyed her role as a director, she prefers editing and producing.

“I enjoy production and editing more. Though, I have a story in mind for another documentary film,” she said, adding her next film will be on the issue of Dalits not allowed to enter temples in a village.
Bharathi said she and Mehra argue like other professionals while working on a film.

“At work, we are not husband-wife, he is the director and I am the editor and producer. We also have our share of clashes and arguments like other professionals,” she said.  Bharathi is now gearing up for Mehra's next, ‘Mirziya', a love story, to be shot in Rajasthan and Ladakh.

Bharti's documentary was screened at the recently concluded Ladakh International Film Festival.
