Kanpur: Bajrang Dal workers attacked the premises of Z Square Mall here Tuesday where Hindi film "PK" was being screened, seeking a ban on it for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.
The activists tried to storm the mall where the film was being exhibited at a multiplex. But when security personnel stopped them, they pulled down canopies and other publicity exhibits at the gate.
They also burnt an effigy of the film's main actor, Aamir Khan, who plays the role of an alien in the movie that is a commentary on godmen.
Police told IANS that three Bajrang Dal workers had been arrested and they were looking for their accomplices.
In a related incident, members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini burnt posters of the film and Aamir Khan's effigy.
They demanded that parts of the movie, which they said showed Hinduism in poor light, be deleted or the film be banned. They threatened to storm theatres screening the film if their demands were not met.
