New Delhi: Film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani' has been the talk of the town ever since its inception.
The periodical drama featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra in the lead has been one of the most awaited movies of the year.
Just one day before its release, ‘Bajirao Mastani' has come across an unexpected trouble in Pakistan.
Yes! The movie so far has failed to get a no objection certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of Pakistan.
According to a repost published in The Express Tribune, Mobasher Hasan, chairman of the CBFC has stated, “Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened,” he said. “Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims,” he further added.
The movie goers are positive about the movie as ‘Bajirao Mastani' has been cleared by the regional boards of Punjab and Sindh without any objection for its release.
However, the local distributors have, reportedly, called for a full board review of the film, once again and the board has agreed to review it previous decision.
Earlier, CBFC had also banned Resham's ‘Swaarangi' because of the controversial nature of its content. Infact, Shahid Kapoor's ‘Haider' was also banned in 2014 laiming the film was against the “ideology of Pakistan”.
The CBFC of Pakistan is yet to announce its final decision, but it seems it isn't going to be an easy journey for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's dream project.
