New Delhi: Varun Dhawan's ‘Badlapur' is receiving praises from all over for its gripping tale and stars' performance. The movie has collected Rs 7 cr on Day 1 and it has witnessed a good growth on Saturday collecting Rs 8.75 cr nett in India.

“Badlapur biz witnesses 20% to 25% escalation on Day 2. Fri 7 cr, Sat 8.75 cr. Total: ₹ 15.75 cr. India biz. Superb!”, tweets trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.

The Sriram Raghwan's directorial may witness further escalation in its collection since the word of mouth is brilliant. But despite rave reviews what is disappointing is that Badlapur's opening day collection is Varun's lowest till date.

Four movie's old actor Varun Dhawan may have given his best performance till date in Badlapur but that hasn't converted into monetary terms at box office. Varun Dhawan's debut flick ‘Student Of The Year' collected Rs 8.25 cr nett on Day 1. Actor's last year release ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya' made Rs 9.02 cr while Main Tera Hero garnered Rs 7.3 cr nett on the opening day of its release.

But what worked most for all the three flicks is that they were family entertainers' mostly romantic comedies. Two of his earlier flicks' were a Dharma Production presentation that is known for giving light-hearted entertainers. This has functioned for the flicks to reach to a wider audience bringing more moolah at box office.

Badlapur however, enjoyed a great buzz prior its release and while we hope that its collection grows further, the movie just might not enjoy the business like Varun's earlier flicks.

Touted as a revenge saga, Badlpur is not everybody's cup of tea. The genre is given a different dimension unlike earlier Bollywood's revenge based movies. It possesses few disturbing scene prompting Censor Board to certify it as Adult movie. This has limited its audience and doesn't make it fit for the families to watch out together.

Moreover, Cricket World Cup is already playing a spoilsport for the movies releasing this time around and India vs SA being another cracker of the game, the collection of Badlapur is expected to drop down today.

But still we are proud of Varun Dhawan who dared to swim against the tide and came out victorious.
