The Indian film fraternity is all set to dazzle the red carpet at the 63rd Cannes International Film Festival, which opens on May 12, reports HT City.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will rub shoulders with seven other global stars including filmmaker Tim Burton, American actress Kate Beckinsale and Oscar-winning actor Benicio Del Toro, as part of the Feature Film Jury.
“I'm looking forward to sharing thoughts with great filmmakers,“ Kapur tells HT City. “In the past, the jury has featured glamorous names... Aishwarya and Sharmila Tagore, I'm quite unglam- orous,“ he jokes.
Among the Indian actors expected to promote their films at the festival are actress Freida Pinto and the Cannes `veteran', Aishwarya Rai. While Pinto will play arm candy to Oscar-winning actor- director Woody Allen when the duo screens You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, in the Out of Competition section, Ash, along with hubby, Abhishek, and filmmaker Mani Ratnam will screen their film Raavan at the `Official India Pavillion'. India's official entry, debutant director Vikramaditya Motwane's Udaan will also be screened at the fest, with the cast-- actors Ronit Roy and Ram Kapoor -- and producer Anurag Kashyap, in attendance.
The `Official India Pavillion' will be hosted by I&B ministry and ASSOCHAM. “There'll be workshops and talks by film personalities to pro- mote India as a shooting and special effects hub,“ says Ajay Sharma, a director with ASSOCHAM.
