New Delhi, Aug 2: Bollywood actor Anupam Kher today appealed to Team Anna to call off its fast and lashed out at the Centre for what it called its "arrogance" towards Team Anna leaders sitting on indefinite fast for the last eight days.
Addressing cheering supporters, Anupam Kher said, people in India even go to see their neighbour, if they learn if one is ill, but here, this government has not even sent a single message of concern or sympathy to the Team Anna members, leave alone, asking about their health condition.
"Itna arrogance hai (so much arrogance)", said Kher about the Centre's attitude.
Kher publicly appealed to Team Anna members to call off their indefinite fast. "We need your guidance and support in our fight against corruption", he said.
"I would also appeal to respected Anna Hazareji to call off his fast. Anna is experiencing the same hunger, that millions of poor Indians experience day in and day out", said Kher.
"Do not forget. A man in loin clothes gave this great country its freedom, a man who in his boyhood swam the swirling Ganga to go to school became its prime minister, Shastriji, and a man like Nelson Mandela who spent 27 years behind bars became that nation's president", said Kher to his cheering audience which had swelled today due to Rakshabandhan holiday.
"You, who are sitting here, are our soldiers without uniform. Today so many sisters have tied rakhis on my wrists that I feel indebted towards them, and I promise to defend their rights", said the Bollywood actor.
Bollywood actress Archana Puran Singh also visited Jantar Mantar to express her solidarity towards Team Anna's agitation.
