Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar, who is returning to his signature action genre after a gap of almost seven years with ‘Rowdy Rathore', is worried and stressed out.
“After a long time I am doing action films. Now as ‘Rowdy Rathore' is releasing (in June), I am like worried...stressed out. And that is there with every film,” Akshay told reporters here, at a promotional event of ‘Rowdy Rathore'.
Akshay made entry into Bollywood as an action hero with films like ‘Waqt Humara Hai' (1993), ‘Mohara' (1994), ‘Suhag' (1994) and ‘Elaan' (1994).
He later did action and comedy films in ‘Khiladi' series - ‘Khiladi' (1992), ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari' (1993), ‘Sabse Bada Khiladi' (1995), ‘Khiladiyo Ka Khiladi' (1996), ‘Mr and Mrs Khiladi' (1997), ‘International Khiladi' (1999) and ‘Khiladi 420' (2000).
With Prabhu Deva's directorial venture ‘Rowdy Rathore', Akshay is returning to his leitmotif, action.
When asked what ‘Rowdy' means to him, Akshay says, “Rowdy means who is mastikhor, badmash...but at the same time has a clean heart. I have been rowdy during my college days. There is rowdiness in everyone be it man or woman”.
As the film is an action-packed entertainment, leading lady of the film Sonakshi Sinha, who was also present at the event, quipped, “lifting me up was a big stunt for Akshay”.
Replying to the pun, Akshay said, “lifting Sonakshi was not that a big stunt as I have lifted several heavy people including wrestler Undertaker”.
At the promotional event of ‘Rowdy Rathore', Akshay, along with Sonakshi and director Prabhu Deva, flagged off a autorickshaw race at Lokhandwala in suburban Andheri.
Also, in a unique way of promoting the film, the makers held a nationwide contest to hunt for the local rowdies through a radio channel. The selected contestants were also present on the occasion.
‘Rowdy Rathore' produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, along with UTV Motion Pictures, is slated for June 1 release.
