Chennai: Actor Ajmal, whose role in the 2011 Tamil blockbuster ‘KO' fetched him the Filmfare award for the best supporting actor, is selective when it comes to doing films and does not like doing ‘kissing' scenes.

“I do not want to do a film just for the sake of doing it. It should have proper content, theme, a good story and one which your family can watch without feeling embarrassed,” he said.

Ajmal had refused to do a kissing scene in the Tamil film ‘Karuppampatti', released earlier this year. “I refused as it was not relevant to the story,” he told PTI.  The film was by debutante director Prabhu, an associate of filmmaker Shankar.

The actor say he put his heart and soul in the movie and is disappointed that it did not do well. “It is the lack of publicity and poor distribution strategy of the producer,” he added.

On plans to remake ‘Ko' in Bollywood, Ajmal said Prakash Jha was supposed to do it but he has no idea what's happening.

The actor is now geared up for four movie releases— one in Tamil, two in Malayalam and another one in Telugu.
‘Vetriselvan' (Tamil), ‘Bangles' and ‘Mazhaneerthullikal' in Malayalam and ‘Tanu Monne Vellipoyindi' (Telugu) in which he plays varied characters, are all due for release.

In ‘Mazhaneerthullikal', Meera Jasmine is the lead actress. Ajmal has enacted the role of a villager in the movie. “It is an off-beat film,” he said.

Ajmal, who rocketed to fame with his brooding anti-hero role, in the 2008 Tamil film ‘Anjathey', bagging the Filmfare award for the best supporting actor in the process, is now busy with ‘Ula', a Tamil film directed by Rajan Madhav and ‘Chaitanyam' (Telugu) by debutante-director Bhaskar Rao.

Priya Bannerjee is the heroine in Ula' while search is on for suitable actresses in the Telugu movie.
