Film maker Vipul Shah's Akshay Kumar-Aishwarya Rai starrer Action Replayy has the actress wearing over 125 costumes.
It is something of a record with the makers claiming that most Bollywood films have 40 costume changes on an average, including those in a song.
The unit is currently shooting its last schedule in Manali. The wrap up shoot alone had the actress doing nine dress changes. The justification comes from the fact that Ash's character loves to dress up and is shown having a fetish for clothes. She is shown flaunting new outfits throughout the movie.
Explains Vipul, "It's a script requirement. That's how her character is etched out. She is simply a person who loves to wear clothes and keeps shopping all the time. I had no clue that the number of costumes had extended to such a number that the girl who was managing her costumes kept coming to me for more and more space to keep them. That's when I realised that the number had gone so high."
Action Replayy is based on a Gujarati play of the same name that Vipul had staged over 15 years ago. It takes a funny look at the protagonist who goes back in time.
