In the poster Akshay Kumar, surrounded with havoc and bombs exploding in the background, is standing with confidence alongside Nimrat Kaur.
Airlift is the real life story based on the biggest evacuation of Indians living in Kuwait during the Iraq-Kuwait war (1990-91). It showcases the heroics of Indian government in dealing with the unforeseen event.

In the movie, Akshay Kumar plays the character of a man named Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman who had always seen himself as a Kuwaiti and not Indian, who helped the government in a big way.
India airlifted over 1,70,000 people from Kuwait in 59 days using 488 flights, making it the biggest air evacuation ever by a country in the history of mankind.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the movie is slated to release on January 22.
