Mumbai: In a latest development in AIB Roast controversy, a Mumbai court has ordered an FIR against the comic group AIB and few Bollywood celebrities who were part of the show.
Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar are named in the FIR for being part of the explicit roast. Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt have also been named for attending the show that was laced with adult humour.
On the petition filed by a social activist Santosh Daundkar, a local court has directed to file an FIR. The petition alleged that a “commercial, vulgar, obscene and pornographic show featuring several Bollywood stars, was held at a stadium meant for sports events.”
The roast, a form of comedy, made its debut in India with the show that has been at the centre of a huge controversy. Filmed in December 20 in Mumbai, it featured a panel of eight and roastmaster Karan Johar. Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor were subjected to humiliating jokes about their personal and professional lives.
The video that was uploaded on YouTube got an overwhelming response and along with it, came the controversy. After complaints of obscenity were filed, AIB pulled off the video.
The show has kick started a huge debate even among the film fraternity. Among its critics is Aamir Khan who recently called it a violent event.
