New Delhi: As expected, Action Jackson starring Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha picked up on Sunday collecting Rs 11 cr nett and taking the weekend collection to Rs 29 cr, as per a leading daily Koimoi.
Being a holiday, this Prabhu Deva directorial did well in mass circuits and multiplexes too and took the weekend collection more than the recent releases in past one month. The movie however will now find it difficult to maintain the momentum in the weekdays since there aren't any holidays and moreover the film is being panned by the critics.
Under this scenario only the word of mouth publicity can help the movie to sustain at box office. Made with the mammoth budget of Rs 75 cr, Action Jackson may find hard to recover this production amount while playing the spoilsport for it this Friday will be superstar Rajinikanth's ‘Lingaa' which will also mark the south debut of Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha.
However, being a regional movie, Lingaa won't fetch as much audience in other circuits as it will in Southern market, yet the movie will give a tough competition to Ajay Devgn starrer.
Moreover, Action Jackson might just survive next week since there are no big releases from Bollywood side. Badlapur Boys, Main aur Mr Right and Life Mein Twist Hai are few flicks releasing this week but none of them enjoy big starcast or publicity.
On the whole the Action Jackson will make its presence felt all due to the non-competition factor. The movie is already proven as one of the biggest duds in Ajay Devgn's career most critically and commercially. However, non-publicity and usual day release are other few reasons responsible for its dull performance at box office.
For now lets see how the weekdays shape up for this movie.
