New Delhi: The opening day figures were already not too impressive that Action Jackson's Saturday's collection declined instead of rising. On Monday, the Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer collected less than what was expected bringing former's one of the lowest opening day total in recent years.
The movie collected Rs 9.25 cr on Friday and while a rise in its collection was expected, merely Rs 8.25 cr was garnered on the following day, according to a leading daily Koimoi.
This is Ajay's lowest total after his 2011 hit Singham whose opening day figure was Rs 8.92 cr, however, the number of screens were too less compared to Action Jackson. On the other side, Ajay's this year's earlier release Singham Returns holds the highest opening day record that to with the same number screens which is 3600.
Here are the opening day figures of Ajay Devgn' last few flicks- Satyagrah Rs 11.21 cr, Bol Bachchan Rs 12.1 cr, Son Of Sardar Rs 10.72 cr, Raajneeti Rs 10.5 cr, Himmatwala Rs 11 cr, Golmaal 3 Rs 8.5 cr.
Moreover, Action Jackson is far from comparison to any of the recent blockbusters like Kick, Bang Bang, Happy New Year and his very own Singham Returns.
Now looking at the trends, this Prabhudeva directorial should pick up well today considering it's a holiday. But its weekdays journey will lot depend upon the word of mouth since almost all critics have given thumbs down to the movie.
The next week's much awaited release ‘Lingaa' starring Rajinikanth shall make it more difficult for Action Jackson to sail at box office while it also stars Sonakshi Sinha who will mark her South debut with this it.
Nevertheless from box office's point of view, Action Jackson's collection is good which has somehow ended the dry spell. With this the beginning of the last month of the year is decent and with the likes of Lingaa and Aamir Khan's PK, the year is going to end on a brilliant note for box office undoubtedly.
