Mumbai: Director duo Abbas-Mustan, who are known for making thriller films, now plan to explore the genre of romantic and comedy films.
The duo have made films like 'Baazigar', 'Ajnabee', 'Aitraaz', 'Race' among others in this genre, which have turned out to be hits.
Like their contemporary filmmakers who are trying to make out-of-box films these days, Abbas-Mustan also want to experiment with different film genres.
"Thriller films have made us what we are today. We are thankful to audience for the love and acceptance to our films. Such films should be gripping. People should get excited to see what is going to happen next. It is important for the audience to understand and connect with the flow of the film," the duo told PTI.
According to them, thriller films have come a long way in Bollywood. "But now we would like to experiment with different genre like romance, comedy etc," they said. However, the filmmakers made it clear that they do not intend to make sex comedy films.
"No sex comedy films for us. We want to make clean films. We want to make family entertainer films. We cannot comment on other films (sex comedies) which are being made," they added.
Abbas-Mustan will be working with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a murder mystery. However, their project with actor Saif Ali Khan seems to be not going to happen soon. "There is a murder mystery with Mr Bachchan, no Saif film as of now, and then there are a couple of other projects that are in planning stage," the duo said.
