Bollywood star Aamir Khan has signed his next film with Farhan Akhtar, reports Mumbai Mirror.
Aamir has surprised everyone by signing Reema Kagti's new film, which will be produced by Farhan Akhtar. Reema Kagti had made the critically acclaimed film Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd three years ago. Incidentally, Reema's forthcoming project with Aamir will be a suspense drama, a genre Aamir has never explored before.
Our source said, “There has been a lot of speculation about the film Aamir will sign next, especially because it's been more than ten months he hasn't signed one since the release of 3 Idiots. Also, news has been doing the rounds that the actor has taken a break just to read scripts, which have been lying with him since he got busy with Peepli Live.
Some reports suggested that Aamir might sign Aditya Chopra's Dhoom 3 or Anuraag Kashyap's Bombay Dreams or even Karan Johar's next, after the two of them were seen together at various events. In fact, even John Matthew Matthan and Rajkumar Santoshi had made offers to the actor. But Aamir has surprised everyone by signing Reema Kagti's film.”
Apparently, Reema has written the script of this film with Zoya Akhtar. And there is an obvious level of comfort that the two women share because there was a time when Reema was assisting Farhan when he and Aamir were working together on Dil Chahta Hai.
Aamir's next with Reema Kagti will supposedly have two leading ladies as well, who are yet to be finalised. The film will be jointly produced by Farhan's and Ritesh Sidhwani's company Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions and will go on floors in February 2011. The makers are looking at an expected release date some time next year.
Farhan Akhtar, who is delighted at the prospects of working with Aamir once again, confirmed the news and said, “It feels great to be collaborating with Aamir a decade after Dil Chahta Hai. We had been hoping do a film together since then and I'm thrilled that it is finally happening with this script.”
Seconding Farhan, his partner Ritesh Sidhwani said, “I have been waiting to work with Aamir since Dil Chahta Hai and it's finally happening. It's special this time as we are also producing it together. I can't wait to start filming.”
And adding icing to the cake, Aamir too said, “Yes it's true. I found this script written by Reema and Zoya exciting and I am looking forward to working with Ritesh and Farhan once again.”
