Mumbai, Oct 19: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who plays a policeman's role in his upcoming film "Talaash", says that he doesn't want to compete with Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar who have also played such roles in films earlier.
"I don't want to compete with anyone. Ajay, Salman and Akshay have been cops earlier but this is very different. My character is struggling with his past. This is not an out and out entertainer, but I liked it," he said at the music launch of the film held Thursday.
The actor has given many super hits like "3 Idiots" and "Taare Zameen Par" but says that he doesn't let the pressure of his earlier performances get to him.
"The pressure will always be there. This is good that people expect more from me, but it is scary too. I make sure that the pressure doesn't come in my way of work," he said.
Directed by Reema Kagti, the suspense thriller also stars Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji.
Aamir has been seen as an police officer in his earlier film, "Sarfarosh" as well, but said that his role in this film didn't require him to do as much research.
"I didn't have to research as much as I had to in 'Sarfarosh'. It is different here. We did little research in terms of costumes for the film," he said.
Kareena Kapoor plays the role of a hooker in the film while Rani is Aamir's wife. Talking about the casting of the film, the actor feels it is completely flawless.
"The casting of this film is a big strength. The way the characters have been written make them all very important," he said.
The music launch was earlier supposed to be held in a red light area.
"This was one of the ideas, but we felt it would be insensitive as we don't want to use anyone's misfortune to promote our film," he said.
Talking about the various roles which he has played, Aamir said that he chooses his roles from the eyes of the audience.
"When I chose a film, I am like an audience. If it touches me and I like it, I do it. I play the character, the way the director writes it," said Aamir.
Aamir has given a lot of creative inputs in the film which has been appreciated by director Reema Kagti.
"It has been my dream to work with Aamir. He has given a lot of creative inputs which I appreciated. But he has always been very respectful to my image of the film. Rani and Kareena are more experienced than me and I am grateful that they let me direct them," she said.
The film is also set to release on Nov 30.
