New Delhi: After completing its two weeks at box office, Alia-Arjun's ‘2 States' is now gazing at the big club of Rs 100 cr, which looks accomplished since the new releases this week, namely Kya Dilli Kya Lahore and Purani Jeans among others, have failed to make any footfalls at the theatres.
2 States in its third weekend has made an impressive 7.5 cr in India. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the flick on its third Friday, Saturday and Sunday made Rs 1.67 cr, Rs 2.70 cr and Rs 3.13 cr respectively.
"#2States [Week 3] Fri 1.67 cr, Sat 2.70 cr, Sun 3.13 cr. Grand total: Rs 94.83 cr nett. India biz. SUPER HIT", tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
Kya Dilli Kya Lahore which marked actor Vijay Raaz's directorial debut, despite being critically acclaimed, managed to earn mere Rs 50 lakh in its first weekend.
The other release Purani Jeans, which marks debut of Aditya Seal, Izabelle Leite and Tanuj Virwani, being a youth-centric flick, had an upper hand over the former. The flick just made double of Kya Dilli Kya Lahore earning Rs 1 cr at box office.
After these two flicks failing to kick off well, the Abhishek Varman directorial is expected to hit the ton and become the second flick of the year to enter the elite club following Salman Khan's Jai Ho which has a lifetime collection of Rs 116 cr in India.
