New Delhi: Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt must be on the cloud 9 today as their latest flick 2 States has had a stunning start at Indian box office.
The movie which is based on author Chetan Bhagat's book 2 States has ended the drought at the box office and has opened on a spectacular note earning Rs 12.42 crore. After a long and a fresh film starring two terrific actors has come out.

Fri Rs 12.42 cr nett [early estimates]. 3rd highest opener of 2014 after #JaiHo and #Gunday," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted. 2 States has become the third highest opening day earnings in 2014, after Salman Khan's Jai Ho and Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's Gunday.
The film which is based on author Chetan Bhagat's real life story had record occupancy of 45 - 55% in most of the theatres. According to reports, Alia and Arjun's chemistry has worked in the favour of the film. In the coming days the film is expected to mint good amount
Good Friday being a holiday, the film has scored really well at many places. The film is expected to earn good numbers in the coming week. IIM-Ahmadabad where the movie has been shot has shown record occupancy of 80%. The film is expected to garner 10. 9 crore.
2 States in the story of Ananya and Krish who are from different cultural backgrounds, but fall in love in college and when their typical families meet each other, things become interesting. How they convince their families is how story deals further.
