New Delhi, Apr 25: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, who brought the 3D trend into Bollywood with “Haunted”, says his next directorial venture “Dangerous Ishhq” is much bigger in scale and has twice the budget.
The upcoming 3D thriller will also mark the comeback of actress Karisma Kapoor and Bhatt, 43, says besides the cast, the scale and budget too has seen an elevation in the film.
“'Dangerous Ishhq' comes with a much bigger idea and travels through quite a few time periods. Since different eras are being explored, it is imperative that we catch their essence well. The production values had to be grander this time around and ‘Dangerous Ishhq' has twice the budget of ‘Haunted',” Bhatt said.
“Dangerous Ishhq” also stars Rajniesh Duggal, who plays Karisma's love interest, Jimmy Sheirgill and Ruslaan Mumtaz.
The film, releasing on May 11, goes through various time periods and is a love story with a difference as it traverses not just one but close to half a dozen birth.
“I will not disclose the number of eras that are being explored here but I can confirm that this is a film about past life regression. It is the story of a girl (Karisma) whose fiance (Rajniesh) gets kidnapped. Now the challenge is to find out why and how did that happen. The answer lies in the past lives and the underlining theme is ‘what you sow, so shall you reap',” the director said.
The director also said that his prior stint with making 3D films has ensured that the final cost of making the film has still been far lesser in comparison with other such films.
“The kind of final product I have managed to bring on screen in the assigned budget won't be possible for many filmmakers out there.
“Anyone else in my place would have spent at least 30-40 per cent more but I could save on costs due to smart planning, execution, familiarity and past experience with the 3D medium,” he added.
After making “Haunted” and “Dangerous Ishhq” in 3D, Bhatt is already using the technology for his ongoing project “Raaz 3”.
After that he would be beginning two more films; one of them being the sequel to “Haunted” which would also be in 3D.
