Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh who has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, is not only a self-styled godman, but also aspired to be a movie celebrity. The man of the hour, with five released films, enjoys a set of dedicated fans who love to see their 'Pitaji' sizzle onscreen. On 10 February, Ram Rahim’s Hind Ka Napak Ko Jawab clashed with Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2. To everyone’s shock, and disbelief, the fraud baba's movie beat Akshay’s film at the box-office. Hind Ka Napak Ko Jawab (MSG Lion Heart 2) collected Rs 100 crore on the 7th day of its opening. In comparison, Jolly LLB 2 managed to mint Rs 74.87 crore in seven days.
However, Akshay Kumar’s film also went on to score a century on the 12th day of its opening. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced this through his Twitter account, “#JollyLLB2 crosses ₹ 100 cr on Day 12... [Week 2] Fri 4.14 cr, Sat 6.35 cr, Sun 7.24 cr, Mon 2.48 cr, Tue 2.45 cr. Total: ₹ 100.37 cr, he tweeted.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s film which was the fourth part of MSG series witnessed rise on weekends. The collections improved further with Valentine’s Day and the film made Rs 100 crore in a week. It wasn’t the content or the acting skills that the audience liked. The crazy followers of the Dera chief made it possible, surprising everyone in the film industry.
Forming a franchise MSG, Ram Rahim has till now released five movies. He not only acts but produces, directs, edits his movies beside singing, writing and composing songs for them.
If reports are to be believed then the sixth installment of the MSG series titled Online Gurukul will soon hit the cinemas. However, now that the Dera Sacha Sauda chief has been put behind the bars for ten years, it is unlikely that the film will see the light of the day.
