Actress Vidya Balan, who played the role of an RJ in Tumhari Sulu, has reportedly landed in legal trouble for using a particular cough syrup during the promotions of the film. Food and Drug Association (FDA) may sent a legal notice to pharmaceutical company, Torque and also Vidya for promoting the medicine without following proper guidance. In the notice, it is clearly mentioned that the advertisement has mentioned nothing related to using the drug with the doctor’s advice.
In the advertisement, the lady can be seen consuming the cough syrup as she suffers cough while working as an RJ. She can be seen saying, “Sulu ke har safar mein uska saathi, Torex cough syrup ho, toh alvida khashi.”
After watching the ad, a medical activist, Dr Tushar Jagtap wrote to PDA that the commercial promotes self-medication. It is yet to be seen how Vidya reacts to this whole issue.
Mr. Vinod Bhanushali from T-series revealed to a leading daily that they have nothing to do with it and the brand should be answerable.
On a related note, Vidya showcased the journey of a housewife transforming into RJ with Tumhari Sulu. The film also features Manau Kaul and Neha Dhupia in pivotal roles. The lady received positive response for her performance in the film. The film has done a decent business at the box office.
