Ronie Screwvala is helming a film based on the infamous Uri attack, which has some popular actors in its lead cast. Yami Gautam and Masaan fame Vicky Kaushal has been roped in to play pivotal roles in the film which has been titled Uri. The infamous battle took place between Indian army and a number of terrorists near the Army camp in Uri, which lasted for 11 days killing 17 army personnel. Ronie Screwvala’s film will be based on the attacks.
Uri is reported to be directed by debutant director Aditya Dhar. According to the Mumbai Mirror reports, Vicky Kaushal will be playing the commander-in-chief, leading the operation against terrorist, while Yami Gautam will be essaying the role of an intelligence officer who would be aiding the army in planning and execution of the operation.
Yami Gautam confirmed the news and said that she wishes to meet the real-life army heroes while she is also impressed by the kind of research conducted by Aditya Dhar on the attacks.
“I’d love to meet the real-life officers but Aditya (debutant director Aditya Dhar) has done such a fab job with his research and I’m sure he will be able to help us with all the information required for the prep.This is the first time I will be playing a character who is so strong and will present me in a very different light,” Yami told Mumbai Mirror.
Vicky Kaushal will be bulking up for his role in Uri. He is currently on a customised regime to gain a few pounds. Sources also claim that the actor has started training in paramilitary and will soon start his technical training. The action in the film involves hand combat and martial arts.
Uri is scheduled to go on floors in May this year.
