Actor Om Puri passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on Friday morning.
The 66 year old actor was famous for acting in a slew of critically acclaimed films like Ardh Satya, Aakrosh, Jane Bhi Do Yaaron, Bhavni Bhavai, Mirch Masala and Dharavi.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who was a close friend of the actor, first confirmed the sad news of his demise on Twitter.
Puri returned home last evening after a shoot. Reportedly his door bell went unanswered on Friday morning, following which his driver raised an alarm.
Hailing from Ambala in Haryana, Om Puri made his film debut in 1976 with the Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal.
An alumnus of National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India, Om Puri was considered one of the pillars of parallel cinema in India.
Condolences are pouring in for the late actor.
