New Delhi: Rohit Dhawan’s upcoming movie ‘Dishoom’ has been creating a buzz for a while now.
The movie brings together two handsome hunks of Bollywood – Varun Dhawan and John Abraham along with two stunning divas Jacqueline Fernandez and Nargis Fakhri.
The movie is bagging a lot of attention for its stunt sequences and moreover the first song of ‘Dishoom’ is also turning out to be an audience favourite.
But looks like this foot-tapping number has landed the movie and the star cast in a major trouble.
According to the media reports, Jacqueline has hurt the religious sentiment of the Sikh community in the song ‘Ishq Ka Marz’.
In this song, Jacqueline is seen dancing in a short dress wearing ‘Kirpan’ around her waist. According to sikh community, the sacred kirpan dangles in an inappropriate manner.
In fact, the ‘Kick’ actress also sported the ‘kirpan’ in another picture as well where she is seen posing with John, Varun and director Rohit Dhawan.
While the Sikh community has reportedly felt offended with the song, the Gurdwara Management Committee's General Secretary, Manjinder Singh Sirsa wrote a letter to CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani asking him to direct the film's director Rohit Dhawan to delete the video.
Sirsa also posted about the matter on Facebook, sharing the pics of Jacqueline wearing the ‘kirpan’.
He wrote, “Objecting strongly to the 'Beadbi' of Kirpan, a pious symbol of Sikhism we asked Sh. Pehlaj Nihlani, the chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification, to instruct the removal of the video of a song titled "ishq ka marz" from the upcoming movie "Dishoom". The song depicts a semi-clad actress, Ms. Jacquelin Fernandes, dancing with a Kirpan, one of the five compulsory Kakaars worn by a practising Sikh; dangling in front of her legs and supported by a cloth belt worn around the waist by the actress and thereby made the mockery of the sacredness and respect of the religious symbols of Kirpan. This act is hurting sentiments of Sikhs as we are already numerous complaints in this matter from various Sikh bodies. I request CBFC to instruct director Rohit Dhawan to immediately remove all the trailers/videos of the aforesaid song uploaded at youtube.com or other websites; either delete the song from the movie or re-shoot its video sans the wearing of Kirpan supported by the actress and to instruct the director and cast of the movie to make public apology to the Sikh community for the deliberate insult done to a respectable Sikh religious symbol. If CBFC fails to take appropriate action in this context, DSGMC will be compelled to initiate criminal proceedings against the director and case of the 'Dishoom' as well as against the CBFC.”
Jacqueline Fernandez and the entire ‘Dishoom’ team is yet to justify themselves on this.
