Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri has emerged to be the first hit of 2019. The movie which traces the significant events of 2016 surgical strikes carried out by Indian armed forces has minted over Rs 46 crore in just four days. The movie, which features Vicky Kaushal as solo hero for the first time had an unexpected opening at the box office. The numbers of Uri has come out as a pleasant surprise for the makers. With its ongoing trend, Uri is expected to cross Rs 50 crore marks soon. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to write, ''#UriTheSurgicalStrike is unshakable... Excellent on Day 4... Higher than Day 1... Will cross ₹ 50 cr today... Trending better than #Raazi, #Stree and #BadhaaiHo... Fri 8.20 cr, Sat 12.43 cr, Sun 15.10 cr, Mon 10.51 cr. Total: ₹ 46.24 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh''.

Uri, directed by Aditya Dhar features Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Kriti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in important roles. The movie has garnered a mixed response from the critics. While some are calling it propaganda film and criticising the jingoism on which Uri allegedly thrives, others are in love with it for hailing the sacrifices of martyrs.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap took to Twitter to praise Vicky Kaushal starrer and refused to call it a propaganda film. ''I quite liked Uri for the way it was executed. I went in thinking it will be a propaganda film & it just sticks true to what happened with similar creative liberties most filmmakers take in telling a story,'' he wrote. Anurag Kashyap has earlier collaborated with Vicky Kaushal in Manmarziyaan, Raman Raghav 2.0 and Gangs of Wasseypur.
