New Delhi: Ashok Pandit, the member of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), yesterday downplayed the reports that the board has stopped the release of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming movie Udta Punjab.

“Entire rumour that Udta Punjab has been rejected for censor certificate is wrong, not the right news,” he said.

Notably, it was reported that the Censor Board was not happy with the excessive use of cuss words in the movie and had grounded it from release with no certificate.

Following the news spread in the media, there was massive furore among people on social media who accused Censor Board of having double standards.

However, Pandit clarified the stand of CBFC on the matter and stated that a revising committee would look into the matter and take the action.

“The film will go to the revising committee, then they will decide and take action,” he said.

Udta Punjab, which is a multi-starrer movie, is based on the problem of drug abuse in the Punjab.

It stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles.

The initial release date of the movie is set as June 17.
