Despite a big release Gully Boy a week ago, Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn’s Total Dhamaal remains a winner at the box office. The film which is the third instalment of popular Dhamaal franchise by Indra Kumar, did exceptionally good business at the domestic box office. In a matter of just 5 days, it has touched the Rs 80 crore mark and by the end of this week, it will surely reach the Rs 100-crore club. Sharing the box office collection, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#TotalDhamaal benchmarks...Crossed ₹ 50 cr: Day 3 ₹ 75 cr: Day 5 Will comfortably cross ₹ 92 cr in Week 1... Will cruise past ₹100 cr in Weekend 2... Has already emerged the highest grossing film in #Dhamaal series. India biz.”
Total Dhamaal has already touched the new heights becoming the film with highest opening weekend collection in 2019, leaving likes of Uri: The Surgical Strike and Gully Boy behind.
In another tweet, Taran Adarsh wrote, “There’s no denying that national chains [plexes in metros and beyond metros] contribute to a big total, but let’s not overlook the contribution by mass pockets/single screens… Make movies that hold pan-India appeal, only then can we expect achche din for trade. #TotalDhamaal.”
Total Dhamaal sees a fresh cast unlike its previous two parts. The cast included Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra and Johnny Lever. The returning cast included Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Javed Jaffrey. Despite a non-holiday release, Total Dhamaal has shattered all the records. Despite the negative reviews, audience have whole-heartedly accepted the film and the numbers are a proof.
