The year 2017 is about to end and now we’re looking back at the journey Bollywood has covered throughout the year. Many movies released, some surprised us unexpectedly while other didn’t live up to the expectations of the movie buffs. This year has been a profitable one for the content-ridden films like Hindi Medium, Newton and Lipstick Under My Burkha while high budget movies like Tubelight and Jab Harry Met Sejal didn’t live up the hype. As the year is coming to an end, let’s have a look at the top 10 highest grossing Bollywood movies of the year 2017.

Baahubali: The Conclusion (Hindi)

The Prabhas-starrer Baahubali: The Conclusion wooed the audience just like its predecessor Baahubali: The Beginning. On the very first day of its release, it earned Rs. 217 crore, which is the highest number for any Bollywood film surpassing Kabali.

 

Raees

Shah Rukh Khan crime-drama Raees secured the third place in the list. This film was a critical and commercial success. It clashed with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil which also found a spot in the list. It is the highest overseas grosser of 2017. Worldwide, Raees has grossed Rs 308 crore at box office.

 

Golmaal Again

Rohit Shetty’s third instalment of Golmaal series did the magic without logic at the box office. The film has raked in more than Rs 300 crore at domestic box office. The Ajay Devgn starrer crossed the 100-crore mark within the first week itself.

 

Judwaa 2

The official remake of 1990’s superhit Judwaa also raked in some good numbers at the box office. Directed by David Dhawan, Judwaa 2. The Varun Dhawan-starrer film has raked in Rs 227 crore being helmed at a budget of Rs 65 crore.

 

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

This Akshay Kumar film was one of the few in the list which was a box office hit and rich in content at the same time. The film got critically acclaimed for its rich subject. Toilet Ek Prem Katha earned Rs 216 crore at box office.

 

Tubelight

Salman Khan’s Tubelight earned Rs 20 crore on its opening and became the 16th biggest domestic opener. However, the film performed much less than it was expected to. It raked in Rs 211 crore worldwide.

 

Jolly LLB 2

Akshay Kumar finds two spots in the list. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LLB 2 enjoys the fifth place in the list with Rs 197 crore of lifetime collection. It is also the eighth-highest grossing Bollywood film of 2017 worldwide.

 

Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s romantic comedy scored the sixth position on the list. It raked in Rs 200 crore at box office. It was an instant hit among the audience and is one of the highest grossing Bollywood movies.

 

Kaabil

The Hrithik Roshan film faced a clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. Although, Raaes is way ahead Kaabil in the box office race, but still the film managed to find a spot in the list. It earned Rs 176 crore worldwide.

 

Hindi Medium

Irrfan Khan knows how to pave a path for himself when Bollywood is jam-packed with big banner films. The comedy-drama won millions of hearts with its light-hearted comedy and strong message. It raked in Rs 102 crore at box office.
