Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his 74th birthday today. The veteran actor’s energy is unrelenting and is the one of the greatest living legends who has always been an inspiration to millions all across the globe.
While addressing the media on this very special day, the legendary actor made an appearance in traditional attire and showed how humorous he is by telling what he feels about this ‘cake cutting’ tradition to mark birthdays.
Yes! It's hillarious.
Here is what he said:
He said, “Cake ki pratha humne band karwaane ko kaha hai. Kyunki mujhe pata nahin ye cake kyun laaya jata hai?Mombatti kyun lagayi jaati hai? Jaalane ke baad kehte hain ise phoonk ke bujha do, fir ek bada sa katlnuma chaaku aajata hai.”
(I have asked to stop the tradition of cake cutting because I do not know why a cake is bought. Why a candle is lit? And after lighting it up, why is it blown off. Then comes a big knife!)
“Aajkal ek nayi pratha shuru hui hai, jab sab kaaand hojata hai tab ek aur kaand hota hai..cake leke poth dete hain mooh pe,” he added.
(These days, a new tradition is followed...after all the “theatrics” another trend is followed...cake is smeared all over the face”.)
Padma Bhushan Mr Bachchan has a huge fan following, and is known for his charismatic screen presence.
He has starred in many blockbuster films like 'Deewar', 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay', ‘Agneepath’, ‘Don’, ‘Black’, ‘Sarkar’ and in more recent times, significant movies like ‘Paa’ and ‘Piku’ in his illustrious career.
His latest movie ‘Pink’ made country sit up and take notice of the issues women in the country face on a daily basis.
Also, recenlty, he participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and these days is busy preparing for the shoot of Ram Gopal Varma’s next film.
