Filmfare Awards have always been in limelight in our country. The prestigious awards accolade artists’ performance and their contribution to Hindi cinema. This time too, the awards have become a talking point but not for fair reasons.
After being slammed on social media for not nominating Akshay Kumar followed by Rishi Kapoor’s revelation of buying an award, it is now actress Sonam Kapoor’s brother and actor Harshvardhan Kapoor who is very disappointed with the judgement.
The actor who made his debut with Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’ lost the Best Debut award to Diljit Dosanjh for ‘Udta Punjab’. The actor was not pleased with the decision and said that the award should go to a newcomer and not to a person who has already worked in a different industry.
Before making his debut with ‘Udta Punjab, Diljit Dosanjh has appeared in several Punjabi movies.
Harshvardhan’s opinion didn’t go well with Filmfare Executive Editor Anuradha Choudhary who took to Twitter to take an indirect jibe at the actor. She tweeted, “The sense of self entitlement some of these newcomer actors have is beyond imagination. If only they were half as talented.”
The actor then set off on a Twitter war with a series of tweets. He said that he had just given his opinion and by doing so he became an antagonist. Harshvardhan further said that he wouldn’t mind getting beaten by a new comer.
The actor appreciated Jim Sarbh’s performance in ‘Neerja’ and said that it would have made him happy if he had won instead of Diljit.
Well, Sonam who won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress is mum on the issue. Time will tell if she stands up for her brother.
