This is how Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s Kalank is linked to Arjun Kapoor’s 2 States
Abhishek Varman's next project titled Kalank featuring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur is scheduled to release on April 19, next year. Along with Alia and others, the film also features Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.
But very few know that this Alia’s film has a connection with Arjun Kapoor’s 2 States and this fact has been revealed by Alia herself.
Alia tweeted, ‘’It’s #4YearsOf2States today and ironically our first day on a new journey by the same filmmaker! But some journeys will always be special cause it was new and scary.. but it was all love - 4 city’s, 3 people, 2 states - one love.’’
Coincidently, Alia's film Kalank has not only the same director (Abhishek Varman) and producer (Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala), but the film starts its journey on the same day (April 18) which was also the releasing date of 2 States four years ago.
Talking about it, Taran Adarsh wote, ''More on #Kalank...The film, which was planned 15 years ago by Karan and his dad Yash Johar, will finally be made in 2018...Story is set in 1940s...On 18 April 2014, #2States had released. On 18 April 2018, #Kalank begins its journey...#Kalank to release on 19 April 2019.''
Meanwhile, Karan Johar talking about the film said, ‘’Kalank has been an emotional journey for me! A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago... A film that was in a pre-production stage helmed by my father...’’
"I am now proud to pass it onto the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman! A beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija and an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek," Karan said. Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment are collaborating for Kalank.
Sajid Nadiadwala said, "This multi-starrer with a story will cross all borders, under the capable direction of Abhishek Varman. It be historic in the true sense of the word... I am genuinely happy to be back with the team Fox Star and Karan Johar... This film is special to all of us!!"
