New Delhi: The highly anticipated movie ‘The Jungle Book’ saw a tremendous start at the box office. The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, struck gold at the box office and earned Rs 10.09 crores on the very first day .
Starring Neel Sethi as Mowgli, the beloved character, the movie became the second highest opener of 2016 after ‘Airlift’. It has beaten other Bollywood and Hollywood biggies, including, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers later in the morning.
Based on Rudyard Kipling’s book, the movie received great reviews by the critics. It saw a mad rush at the theatres with parents bringing their children to experience something out of the world.

‘The Jungle Book’ provides viewers with a wealth of visual and emotional bounty. The astounding computers graphics open the secrets of the jungle as a world defined by strive.
The movie came to news a few days prior its release because the censor board gave it a U/A certificate. CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani defended this rating saying that some sequences in the movie are ‘scary’ and it is better if children are accompanied by their parents for the movie.
Despite this, the footfall at theatres did not see any decline, instead a rise during the evening shows. Since ‘The Jungle Book’ is very dear to the 90’s kids of India, it wont be a surprise if the movie rakes more mullahs in the coming weekend.
