Sanjay Dutt, who is set to return onscreen with his comeback film Bhoomi, is also gearing up for another movie. Titled, The Good Maharaja, the film is directed by Omung Kumar. The first look of the film featuring Sanju Baba is out and it looks intriguing all the way. The film is a biopic on the ruler of Nawanagar, Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who established refugee camps for Polish people under his reign during the second world war. Nawanagar was a princely state in British India.
Donning a turban with lots of ornaments, Sanjay Dutt’s new onscreen character looks regal in each and every aspect. The intense grim and a sharp moustache makes the Munna Bhai look all the more convincing as Maharaja Jam Sahib Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji. In an interview with a leading daily, the makers of The Good Maharaja said, “Omung Kumar has been working on this script for a year-and-a-half and he has even put together a book on it. Sandeep Singh and the team have done a look test as well with Sanjay Dutt. They, in fact, met Polish government officials last year to work out shooting permissions.”
Meanwhile filmmaker Omung Kumar said that they have photographs of the Maharaja for reference and, they would take certain creative liberties but are trying to keep things as authentic as possible.
