The Accidental Prime Minister First Review: Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur lauds Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna starrer
Just a day is left before the release of The Accidental Prime Minister, which was shrouded by the controversies even before the release. The film is releasing on January 11 with Uri and Rajinikanth’s Petta. In the film, veteran actor Anupam Kher is playing the role of Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while Akshaye Khanna is playing Sanjaya Baru in the film. The political drama is based on the book which goes by the same name penned by Sanjaya Baru. Many Bollywood celebrities including Anil Kapoor watched the film in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Going through the legal cases and controversies, The Accidental Prime Minister so far is receiving positive reviews from the celebrities even before the official release. Director Shekhar Kapur took to his Twitter to sing praises of veteran actor Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna talking about how meticulously the duo have captured the essence of Dr Manmohan Singh and Sanjaya Baru.

He added, “What @AnupamPKher has done in playing Manmohan Singh in #AccidentalPM is to create something that could easily have become a caricature, into a breathing relatable human being that you want to reach out to and hug. That takes a lot of skill.”

National Award winning actress Divya Dutta also lauded Kher’s performance in The Accidental Prime Minister. The Accidental Prime Minister has been directed by Vijay Gutte and is based on the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as Indian Prime Minister. The film also features Lipstick Under My Burkha actress Aahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi, Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi. Sanjaya Baru was the personal advisor of former PM Dr Manmohan Singh.
