New Delhi: The social media was taken over by a storm recently after stand-up comedian Tanmay Bhat posted a video about legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mageshakar.
Titled Sachin Tendulkar V/s Lata Civil War, he used the Faceswap tool to impose the legends’ faces on his own in the video, and started a debate between the two legends over Virat Kohli.
The video, which shows the two legends using cuss words and derogatory language for each other, is touted as disrespectful in nature by the people on social media.
While Tanmay is facing the wrath from across the world and is being slammed by the B-town celebs, there are many wondering who exactly Tanmay Bhat is.
For the uninitiated, here’s the brief profile of the man who is on receiving end of the ire.
Tanmay Bhat is stand-up comedian, script writer, producer who happens to be the co-founder of ‘All India Bakchod’, a comedy collective.
* Tanmay did his schooling from S.C.D. Barfiwala High School, Mumbai, after which he completed his graduation from Delhi University.
* Bhat rose to fame with a show named ‘Local Heroes’. While the show used to feature international comedians with its script in English, it was Tanmay who mixed up Hindi with English on the show for the first time.
* Later, Tanmay also performed in UK’s ‘Best In Stand Up’ in which he was one of the 10 comic characters of the show.
* Soon he started on with a controversial comedy show ‘AIB Roast along with his friend Gursimran Khamba, where Tanmay was the scriptwriter-cum-director. The show was later joined in by Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya. This was the first comedy show in India where the guests were trolled by the hosts.
* While Tanmay has always been the controversies’ favourite child, he has been often criticised for using ‘cuss words’ in his show. In fact, one just can’t miss out the debate in one of the episodes of AIB Roast which featured Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor.
* The controversy about this episode was so hyped that the AIB team had to remove the show from Youtube. However, AIB continues to be a popular show amongst the youth.
* After this controversy the AIB group got a huge platform for their show and went on to have a tie-up with Hotstar. The team started off with a new show, where Tanmay Rohan, Ashish, and Khamba targeted issues that the nation really wants to know about.
But this time, it seems Tanmay has called in for a serious controversy as he targeted legends like Sachin Tenduklar and Lata Mangeshkar, who have achieved great heights in their career and boasts of a massive fan following.
Tanmay Bhat is yet to justify his stand on this matter.
