It’s confirmed! Karan Johar’s Takht to have Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and others
It’s going to be a big project for Karan Johar as his next period film Takht will have an ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janvhi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles. After helming Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which was also a multi-starrer film including Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar has donned the director hat again for this period film which is titled Takht, which means ‘throne’ in English.
On Thursday, Ranveer Singh took to his Twitter to announce the entire cast of this upcoming project. Sharing the picture, he wrote, “#TAKHT @karanjohar #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaabhatt @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi @janhvikapoor @anilskapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorva1972 @dharmamovies.”
Directed by Karan Johar, Takht will be bankrolled by his home banner Dharma Productions. It will be based on the Mughal dynasty and will primarily be a story of two brothers. The younger one will be playing the negative role in the period drama. Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal will play brothers in the film, while Kareena Kapoor Khan will be Ranveer’s wife. Alia Bhatt will be Padmaavat actor’s love interest in the film. As per the report, Ranveer will be essaying the role of Dara Shukoh while Kareena will be Jahanara Begum. Vicky Kaushal is reportedly playing the role of Aurangzeb in the film.
As the title is suggestive, Takht is all about the fight between two brothers for the throne. It will revolve around the life of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz’s kids and will be based on their three children played by Ranveer, Kareena and Vicky Kaushal. The film will go on floors in 2019 and release in 2020.
