At a time when the biopic genre is ruling Indian cinema, buzz suggested that veteran actress Tabu would play External Affairs Minister in Uzma Ahmed’s biopic film. Now, the actress who will be seen next in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again, has opened up about the ongoing matter. Clearing the air, Tabu said that the news is just false and, she was never approached for such a role. She went on to say that she had no idea about filmmaker Dhiraj Kumar making a film on Uzma Ahmed’s life, the woman who was rescued by Sushma Swaraj from Pakistan.
A rather puzzled and annoyed Tabu said she was unaware as to why filmmakers who have not approached her give out false news of her being approached for their movies when she has not even been contacted or made aware of a certain project.
“This has also happened in the past. In fact, in some cases, some really big and established production houses have taken the liberty of using my name for a project without as much as my consent,” the 45-year-old actress said.
Furthermore, Tabu also criticized the practice of using a celebrity’s name to promote films, according to a Pinkvilla report. The actress said that it is clearly done to hype their projects and to create insecurity among other actresses who may be approached for the role.
“This is a poor practice and people should stop using my name in vain. Honestly, it shows them (filmmakers) in poor light when I issue a denial like this. Unfortunately, they leave me with no choice because no one has bothered to even check with me”, Tabu added.
Tabu will be seen next in Rohit Shetty's upcoming comedy Golmaal Again- the fourth installment of the Golmaal franchise, which will also feature Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu and Neil Nitin Mukesh.
