Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar has expressed her sympathy with Pakistani artistes who are facing backlash in India following the Uri attacks that claimed the lives of 19 Indian soldiers.
The actress said she feels the people of Pakistan themselves are victim of terrorism and cited the shocking murder of renowned Pakistani Qawwal Amjad Sabri, who was shot dead by unknown assailants three months ago..
Pakistani artistes are helpless at this point of time, the actress added.
The Pakistani artistes including actors like Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan are being widely criticized for their silence on the Uri attacks.
Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association recently banned the Pakistani artistes in wake of Uri attacks, a few days after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) asked them to leave the country.
However, the ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ actress also made a point saying that art and artistes should not be collaborated with politics and should be left alone.
Swara, on the other hand, also condemned the attacks and said that it is a very emotional situation for every Indian and the entire country is infuriated and grief-stuck.
"We have a responsible government and army. They are doing their work rightfully and we should let them tackle the situation", she added.
At the Jagran Film Festival, Swara received the Best Actress for "Nil Battey Sannata".
